Captain Willy Atencio

Willy Atencio is the Captain of Fish Drake Bay, a native of Drake Bay, Costa Rica and has spent his entire life on the local waters.  He is a seasoned international Captain working on sport fishing yachts ranging from 31-47 feet in the United States and the Caribbean.  Willy is known as one of the finest and hardest working Captains in all of Costa Rica.  He takes great pride in ensuring his clients on board are not only safe and comfortable, but they catch a lot of fish. Willy is on the Pro-Staff for Coastal Angler Magazine, a select list of Costa Rican captains who write the fishing report for their area. He often takes clients out with little or no experience fishing.  Along with his mates, he loves teaching clients a sport they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. The crew especially likes having kids on board.  The benefits of taking them away from TV or video games and putting them on the water for the day are immeasurable.

A day on the beautiful Pacific Ocean with Captain Willy is more like an adventure.  Along the way to the best fishing spots, Willy may point out some amazing wildlife such as whales, sea turtles, porpoise and flying fish.  There are also a great variety of seagoing birds such as the magnificent Frigate Bird.  When you spot a Frigate it generally means there are bait fish in the water and it may be a good place to fish.

After a day on the Reel Time you will hopefully be a little tired and have a few sore muscles but make sure to enjoy the fresh fish that Captain Willy and his mates will filet for your dinner that evening!
