The Captain and mates of the Reel Escape & Reel Time practice ‘catch & release’ for sailfish, marlin, roosterfish and other species. This ensures that future generations will be able to enjoy this wonderful experience as well as protecting these species. We use circle hooks that are designed to catch the fish in the corner of their mouth and do the least amount of harm to the fish. We also do not bring Billfish in the boat for a picture as recent studies have shown this could cause damage to the fish. We only keep fish that our clients wish to eat. As part of our commitment to the local community we provide any additional fresh fish, free of charge, to the people in the small village of Drake Bay. We also support the local school and the many fundraisers in the village. We make our living on the water so there is nothing more important to us than ecotourism and protecting our environment.
