May 2021 Fishing Report

We have had a busy month in May and the fishing has been outstanding. Offshore we are finding big schools of Yellow-fin Tuna and a decent Sailfish bite. As we progress into June and July the Marlin bite continues to improve. Most of the Marlin around here are Blues in the 250 lb. range. However, big Blacks in the 500 lb. range do patrol our waters and our clients have caught several of these monsters over the years. Inshore, lots of big Roosterfish have been caught in the last month. Earlier this month one lucky angler caught and released one that weighed close to 100 lbs! Close to a world record. December 2020/January 2021 Fishing Report

Just as we expected, once the clients returned to Drake Bay the fishing has been nothing short of amazing. We have had a ton of last minute bookings and have been on the water almost every day for the last few weeks. Inshore, clients have been catching multiple Roosterfish on half day trips. Near shore the Cubera Snapper bite has been very solid as well as the Big Eye Tuna bite. Big schools of medium sized Tuna have been consistently around Caño Island for the last month or so. COVID-19 Update from Drake Bay

Greetings from our beautiful, little village of Drake Bay, Costa Rica.  I wish I had better news to report, but COVID-19 has hit the entire country of Costa Rica hard economically.  As a small village that relies very heavily on tourism, Drake Bay has been hit especially hard.  The virus has not made it to Drake Bay, but with the shutdown of the country to visitors from other countries, the village is completely “closed”.  With no tourists, the people of Drake Bay have no income. In response to the immediate needs of people in Drake Bay, the owner and the Captain of Reel Escape and Reel Time have organized a fund raiser to help feed the families most in need…

Fishing Report – March/April 2020
