2016 Offshore World Championship comes to an end
The Reel Escape just completed its 4th straight year of competing in the Offshore World Championship in Quepos, Costa Rica, this tournament is considered the “Olympics of fishing “. Congratulations go to the winning team from St Lucia, teams from Brazil finished second and third. Over the course of 4 days and 66 teams competing there were 1495 Sailfish, 12 Blue Marlin , 1 Black Marlin and 1 Striped Marlin caught and most importantly RELEASED. Offshore World Championship Update!
The team from Brazil fishing on the Reel Escape got off to a hot start yesterday catching 3 Sailfish early in the day to score in the top ten. The afternoon bite slowed but they were able to catch and release 2 more Sails placing themselves in the middle of the pack heading into the second day.
On the second day of this prestigious tournament the Reel Escape will host the Guatemala Offshore Team who are currently in third place. On the first day alone there were 451 Sailfish and 2 Blue Marlin caught. Stay tuned for more updates!

April Fishing Report: Caño Island
The Sailfish bite in Drake Bay is red hot! Our clients are experiencing as many as 30-40 bites a day on average. The bite is currently just about 10 miles from Caño Island. We are also catching some Big Eye and Yellow Fin Tuna by the Furuno Bank. Lucky anglers have also had the occasional shot at Blue & Black Marlin in both locations. Drake Bay is literally once of the best places in the world to consistently catch big Rooster Fish on both live bait and poppers. Once you hook into one of these monsters be prepared for on heck of a fight.
